Canon EOS 7D with retro Nikon 50mm f1.4 prime lens

Well, I’ll have to say that I just love “retro” stuff. We live in a house that was built in 1960, and I just love the old stuff that has survived the years that we got with the house, or srounged off ebay/craigslist in order to set the proper “mod” tone.

Well, in terms of cameras, I love the idea of “old meets new”. I recently obtained the old Nikon F camera that I learned on as a kid from my Dad (he bought it new in 1962). I’ve been shooting video with my Canon EOS 7D, and loved the idea of getting an adapter and using this great prime lens on the 7D. We’ll I’ve done just that, and it’s been fun to experiement with stills and video in “total manual” mode- no autofocus, no metering support, just “bare to the wire” digital photography. Fun stuff.

  1. Hi from Argentina,
I’ve got the exactly the same lens (from my dad. I started to take photos a long time ago with that lens and the Nikkormat , I love it)
Now I work with the canon 7d.
I’m doing videos with my 7d and I want to use it.
I’ ve got a pixco Nikon -Eos adapter. but the lens touch the body of the 7d. I need some thing else to use the lens?
Can you give me some links to the product?

Thanks I lot for your help!

    Pd: I Also have a 24mm 2.8 nikkor

  2. Hi,

I have just purchased the Canon 5d mark II. I have the exact same Nikon 50mm retro prime as yours. I can see that it all fits with the Nikon to EOS adapter but will it perform as well as say…a more modern 50mm Nikon prime lens?
